New York Fashion Week Highlights

New York Fashion Week kept us feeling nostalgic with quirky retro vibes taking over multiple runways. As an avid vintage lover and thrifting enthusiast, this retro trend has made me even more excited for the Fall 2016 season. It's time to say goodbye to minimalism and hello to fun. So without further ado, here are five of my favorite collections showcased last week in NYC...

1. Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear Collection
I am a sucker for a vintage nautical look and Tommy Hilfiger definitely didn't disappoint with this collection. I loved the way he paired the masculine naval-style double breasted coats with the feminine pastel chiffon dresses to give a modern-girly take to the 1940s sailor. Hilfiger did a great job at mixing materials such as denim, silk, and wool with novelty prints to give us that popular quirky look I can't get enough of.

2. Rachel Zoe

Three words: Class, Glamour, and Sophistication. What else can would you want from your wardrobe? Rachel Zoe 's collection left me speechless with her use of lace, metallic fringe, Mongolian fur, and perfectly scattered pearls on cable knit sweaters. This collection is romance at its finest and is truly the collection of my dreams.

3. Michael Kors Collection

Trust me when I say I would wear every single look in this collection. I mean, can Michael Kors do wrong?? This season Kors opted for a more retro look which was a fun surprise from his usual minimal look. One thing that caught my eye was the feather detailing... I'd never thought I'd say I need more feather in my wardrobe. Thanks for the inspo Michael Kors.

4. Diane von Furstenberg

If I could go back in time to Studio 54 in the late 70s, i'd definitely bring one of DVF's Fall 2016 looks with me. She brilliantly captures everything I love about disco though her funky prints, metallic details, skinny scarves, and bold geometric silhouettes. From the office to the disco, these looks are made for the golden girl in all of us.

5. Kate Spade New York

Everyone knows I consider myself to be the quintessential Kate Spade girl and this collection definitely proves it. This collection was inspired by the ballet world with blush pinks, black lace–embellished Victorian-collared blouses, and light flowing fabrics typically worn by dancers. As a former ballerina, these outfits scream my name and I cannot wait to add these looks to my closet in the weeks ahead.

What do you think of the retro trend taking over fashion week? Would you wear these looks? Let me know in the comments section below what collections you loved from New York Fashion Week!

xoxo,

Chronicles of a Fashion Intern: Editor Encounters

Hello, My name is "Intern"

In life, there are two types of memorable interactions...the really great interactions and the...well...not so smooth interactions. I learned this very quickly the past couple of weeks when I had a close encounter with one of fashion's biggest names: Zanna Roberts Rossi, Marie Claire's Senior Fashion Editor, Stylist and E! News Contributor.

During this internship I constantly prepared myself with imaginary scenarios of how I would introduce myself to the Marie Claire editors. I'd bump into them in the kitchen. Use my charm to complement their outfit and tell them how much I admire their work. They would then invite me out for some coffee to chat about their incredible career. We would become so close that they would then take me under their wing and hire me as their fashion protégé. But that's not really how things work in the fashion world.

Brace yourselves, this is going to be an eventful story. So now I present to you... my very first encounter...
